Warrumbungle Shire Council in western NSW is in a landscape that ranges from extensive plains to undulating hills, from the high basaltic plateau of the Coolah Tops in the east to the rugged mountainous peaks of extinct volcanoes in the Warrumbungle National Park, west of Coonabarabran. It has a population of over 9,580 people and covers an area of 12371.1 sq kms. The Shire includes the towns of Baradine, Binnaway, Coolah, Coonabarabran, Dunedoo, and Mendooran.
