This record contains products classified from seabed data collected on the NSW continental shelf. Classifications of seabed features (e.g. landforms) and composition (e.g. substrates) have been interpreted using bathymetry and backscatter/reflectance data sourced from multibeam echosounders, side-scan sonars, and airborne laser bathymetry. Towed underwater video and sediment sampling data are used, where available, to validate the interpretation of seabed types. The seabed classification products are intended to provide fundamental baseline data on the character and composition of the seabed to inform ongoing management and research of the NSW continental shelf environments.
