Areas where Temperate Highland Peat Swamps on Sandstone are likely to occur is derived from the National Vegetation Information System (NVIS) database Version 1.0. The following attributes from the 'Source_des' Field (at the known localities) were mapped after applying a 100 m buffer: Blue Mountains (Blue Mountains Sedge Swamps); Newnes Plateau (Newnes Plateau Shrub Swamps); Southern Highlands (Montane Peat Swamps and Penrose Shrub Swamps); and Jacksons Bog (Subalpine Bog (59)). Additionally, in the Southern Highlands, Mundego and Butlers Swamps were hand digitised on screen by reference to NSW Central Mapping Authority 1:25,000 maps; and Wildes Meadow Swamp was defined by buffering to 300 m the drain between Fitzroy Falls Reservoir (stored water) and Wildes Meadow Road. For the Blue Mountains and Newnes Plateau, the NVIS data was supplemented and replaced as appropriate with Draft Blue Mountains Swamp Vegetation Mapping supplied by the City of Blue Mountains.
