In 2012, the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) commissioned Eco Logical Australia (ELA) to conduct a comprehensive vegetation survey of Oxley Wild Rivers National Park and Oxley Wild Rivers State Conservation Areareserves. The results of this vegetation survey are the classification and mapping of the vegetation communities and vegetation communities of conservation significance. The survey results are 36 broad mapping units and 63 fine-scale vegetation communities. Where possible, the classification used existing vegetation. However, the current vegetation communities in this pre-existing classification system were not always adequate to cover the vegetation observed, so an additional 16 communities were described for the park as part of the current project.
