Supporting the community by fostering an environment with a thriving creative and cultural sector, where our citizens can enjoy their recreational time in a way that promotes connectivity and celebrates our culture and diversity.

In 2023, more people attended a live performance in NSW than ever recorded before, a figure which increased by 27% from 2022. Sustainable creative and cultural industries are important, not just for fostering a strong community but also economically. In 2023, NSW generated $1b in total ticket revenue, a rate which is higher than our share of the national population.

Contemporary Music contributed the highest share of attendance (42.8%) among all the live performance categories in NSW.

Note: The Live Performance industry encompasses performances, productions, previews and concerts that are performed in front of a live and/or virtual audience. The LPA report collects from ticketing companies, self-ticketing venues, event promoters and National Performing Arts Partnership.
