NSW Water Theme - Hydro Line

Export Data Access APIRETIRINGThis GD94 service is scheduled for retirement. Please begin transitioning to the GDA2020 service and update any maps, applications, or workflows that currently reference this service. You can access the new GDA2020 Service here:Hydro Line - NSW Water Theme - GDA2020 ServiceNSW Water Theme - Hydro LinePlease NoteWGS 84 service aligned to GDA94This dataset has spatial reference [WGS 84 ≈ GDA94] which may result in misalignments when viewed in GDA2020 environments. A similar service with a ‘multiCRS’ suffix is available which can support GDA2020, GDA94 and WGS 84 ≈ GDA2020 environments. In due course, and allowing time for user feedback and testing, it is intended that the original service name will adopt the new 'multiCRS' functionality.Metadata Portal Metadata InformationContent TitleNSW Water Theme - Hydro LineContent TypeHosted Feature LayerDescriptionNSW Hydro Line defines the centreline of a water course. It includes features such as natural water course, canal-drain, race, spill way and tunnel-siphen. It includes key attributes such as hydro line name, perennially and flow direction.Features within the Hydro Line class include:Watercourse Natural Watercourse - A naturally formed watercourse. This line feature dataset is part of the Topographic database.Canal-Drain - An artificial (built) watercourse to convey water and/or to allow transportation upon. This line feature dataset is part of the Topographic database.Watercourse Centre LineSpillway - A constructed path or channel for excess water to pass over or beside a dam. This line feature dataset is part of the Topographic database.Tunnel-Siphen - An underground watercourse conveying water that has direct association with the hydrographic network. Also included are siphens which is a man-made or natural conduit in the form of an inverted U shape and filled until gravitational force or atmospheric pressure is sufficient to force water in one end of the pipe and out the other end thus conducting water beneath a depressed place.ConnectorConnector - A line used maintain continuity of a watercourse where that watercourse is not physically evident. This line feature dataset is part of the digital Topographic database.Water security is one of Australia’s major challenges. Key users of the hydrology data are NSW State and Local Government agencies as well as Federal Government agencies. These bodies use this data to better manage State and Local Government assets. This hydrology data provides the NSW component of the Australian Hydrological Geospatial Fabric which is a critical input to the Australian Water Resources Information System.More widespread use of the hydrology data is also found in emergency management response and recovery efforts, hazard mitigation or disaster risk reduction, climate change, natural resource assessment, environmental planning and monitoring, insurance, mining and agriculture.Spatial Services continuously updates this theme with information sourced from relevant stakeholders and custodians; by data verification from other internal and external databases; research and through Spatial Services’ regular cycle of updating from aerial imagery and elevation data.Initial Publication Date06/02/2020Data Currency01/01/3000Data Update FrequencyOtherContent SourceData provider filesFile TypeESRI File Geodatabase (*.gdb)Attribution© State of New South Wales (Spatial Services, a business unit of the Department of Customer Service NSW). Therefore, the position of the feature instance will be within 0.5mm at map scale for 90% of the well-defined points. That is, 1:500 = 0.25m, 1:2000 = 1m, 1:4000 = 2m, 1:25000 = 12.5m, 1:50000 = 25m and 1:100000 = 50m. A program to upgrade the spatial location and accuracy of data is ongoing.Spatial Reference System (dataset)GDA94Spatial Reference System (web service)EPSG:3857WGS84 Equivalent ToGDA94Spatial ExtentFull StateContent LineageFor additional information, please contact us via the Spatial Services Customer HubData ClassificationUnclassifiedData Access PolicyOpenData QualityFor additional information, please contact us via the Spatial Services Customer HubTerms and ConditionsCreative CommonsStandard and SpecificationOpen Geospatial Consortium (OGC) implemented and compatible for consumption by common GIS platforms.
