This year’s Right to Know Week theme is ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI), e-Governance and Access to Information: Next steps in NSW digital government’.
Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) facilitates public access to NSW Government information. Right to Know Week encourages NSW public sector agencies to improve their knowledge of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) and to raise awareness of an individual’s right to access government held information in NSW.
The Right to Know remains crucial in this digital age. As governments continue to provide digital solutions for residents, including the use of AI in decision-making, there is a requirement to preserve and promote the public interest, accountability, transparency and people’s right to information.
AI Strategy and the AI Ethics Policy
The NSW AI Strategy, AI Ethics Policy and the AI Assurance Framework outline the ethical principles for the use of AI by NSW Government agencies. These have been developed to ensure AI solutions used by government are trusted by the public and meet the highest ethical and assurance standards.
