A number of water access licences in a mix of regulated river, unregulated river and groundwater sources have been returned to the Minister for Water under section 77 of the Water Management Act 2000. As at March 2025, the Minister holds around 600 surrendered licences comprising approximately 26,000 shares of water in 236 water sources.The web service was developed to represent the NSW statutory water sources which contain water access licences surrendered to the Minister for Water. The data was extracted from the Water Licencing System, maintained by WaterNSW, in March 2025.The dataset includes the number of surrendered shares available within the respective water source, including licence categories (if applicable).
