IMEF (Integrated Monitoring of Environmental Flows)

The Integrated Monitoring of Environmental Flows (IMEF) program consists of ecological monitoring projects across the regulated rivers of NSW. IMEF was set up to monitor environmental flow effects and included projects such as the effect of inundating floodplain wetlands (Hypothesis 7) on water quality, aquatic vegetation, invertebrates and frogs. Other project included monitoring the effect of translucent releases from major dams on river water quality, biofilm development and stony be invertebrates. Instream productivity in lowland rivers downstream of dams were also monitored. In some catchments, waterbirds, blackwater events, and other ecological indicators were used.
