NSW government school HSC completions by Aboriginality (2004 -2019 and 2016-2024)

The Higher School Certificate is the highest educational award in secondary education in NSW. It is awarded to students who have satisfactorily completed Years 11 and 12 at secondary school. To be eligible, students must meet HSC course requirements and sit for the statewide HSC examinations.

Notes:

  • Prior to 2016, this dataset used data from the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). From 2016 onwards, data presented is based on Aboriginal status reported in the National Schools Statistics Collection (NSSC) conducted each August.

  • HSC Record of Achievement includes those students awarded the HSC and who have completed one or more HSC courses but have not yet been awarded the HSC.

  • HSC Record of Achievement includes students who participated in HSC pathways.

  • HSC pathways offer a flexible program for students to complete the HSC over a period of up to five years. The pathways provisions include accumulating courses, repeating courses, acceleration, recognition of prior learning, and combining study with part-time traineeships or apprenticeships.

  • Bradfield college is included.

  • Data derived from NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) data, provided in February each year.
