NSW State of the Catchments 2008: MER Native Vegetation Theme

All four data layers were derived by integrating spatial data from other existing state-wide data sets and applying a series of transparent decision rules. The integration of existing state-wide data sets compiled from several programs delivers decision makers within NSW a powerful and comprehensive snapshot of the native vegetation resource condition with a state-wide context. Additional description of the data layers, the component data sets used to derive them, and the methods used to integrate these component data sets can be found in DECC (2009) Technical Background Report NSW State of the Catchments 2008:Native Vegetation. Unpublished.; ; CAVEATS: SoC report products are not available until the release of the 2009 State of the Environment Report. The data sets described herein have been derived from interim products prepared by the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change and Water's Native Vegetation Extent and Land Use Mapping Programs. While these products represent the best available state-wide estimate of native vegetation extent and condition at present, they will continue to be improved over time. Caveats applying to the underlying data sets also apply to the State of the Catchment products.
