Resource Allocation Model (RAM) funding table

The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) was developed to ensure a fair, efficient and transparent allocation of the state public education budget for every school. The model recognises that students and school communities are not all the same and that they have different needs which require different levels of support.

Data Notes:

  • RAM funding represents the total funding for the four equity loadings and the three base allocation loadings, a total of seven loadings. The equity loadings are socio-economic, Aboriginal background, English language proficiency, and low-level adjustment for disability. The base loadings are location, professional learning and per capita.

  • The RAM funding table provides a sum total of the seven loadings for each NSW public school.

  • The seven RAM loadings are only a portion of the total funding provided to NSW public schools. Schools also receive allocations for staffing, operational funding, initiatives and site specific funding.

  • Every school receives a School Budget Allocation Report (SBAR) in October showing the full school funding allocation for the following year based on anticipated enrolments. The RAM funding table shows the seven RAM loadings as at October SBAR as ‘Original RAM Funding’.

  • Every school receives School Budget Allocation Report (SBAR) Adjustments in April/May confirming the full school funding allocation for the current year based on confirmed actual enrolments. The RAM funding table shows the seven RAM loadings as at April/May Adjustments as ‘RAM Funding – post Adjustments’.

  • Changes in school funding are the result of changes to student needs and/or student enrolments.

  • Data is refreshed after each SBAR cycle.

  • Financial information is available in each schools’ Annual school report which is available on their website in the ‘Policies and reports’ section.

  • For more information on the RAM, visit Schools funding.
