Better Regulation Division: Single View of Customer and Single View of Building
In November 2019, the NSW Building Commissioner, David Chandler, engaged the NSW Government’s Better Regulation Division (BRD) to improve the construction of residential buildings in NSW.
David implemented Construct.NSW – a revolutionary six pillar initiative to overhaul the NSW construction industry and address building quality issues highlighted in the Shergold Weir Report.

Our estuaries change after bushfires
Data.NSW is the NSW Government’s open data portal. Data from other open data portals, such as the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s (DPIE) SEED Portal can be searched for via Data.NSW. In this data story, we share DPIE’s work to collect data on water quality following the 2019-2020 bushfires and release it as open data making it available to the community, informing planning and promoting research.

NSW Infrastructure Data Management Framework
The Department of Customer Service has recently completed work on the NSW Infrastructure Data Management Framework (IDMF), a recommendation of the State Infrastructure Strategy (SIS) 2018-2038. The IDMF provides guidance on the management of data generated and used during the lifecycle of state infrastructure.

The NSW Data Analytics Centre (DAC) is delivering a range of enterprise and open data products to inform the government and community in response to COVID-19. This blog discusses how strong data governance and effective data stewardship practices at the DAC have helped deliver some of these for the NSW Government COVID-19 Data Program, and reflects on learnings from that perspective.
