  • Updated description of resource Cases by location aggregated data in NSW COVID-19 cases by location from

    The COVID-19 cases datasets now contain cases that have been identified through registered positive rapid antigen test (RAT) results. A new field has been added to the dataset "confirmed_by_pcr". Records showing a "Yes" in this field are cases that have been confirmed by a PCR test only or a registered positive RAT result that has also been confirmed by a PCR test. Records showing a "No" are registered positive RAT results that have not been confirmed by PCR test. The COVID-19 cases datasets have been aggregated to reduce file size to make it easier for our open data users. This data was published from 20 January 2022.

    COVID-19 cases by notification date and postcode, local health district, and local government area. The dataset is updated daily, except on weekends. The data is for confirmed COVID-19 cases only based on location of usual residence, not necessarily where the virus was contracted. Case counts reported by NSW Health for a particular notification date may vary over time due to ongoing investigations and the outcome of cases under review thus this dataset and any historical data contained within is subject to change on a daily basis. The underlying dataset was assessed to measure the risk of identifying an individual and the level of sensitivity of the information gained if it was known that an individual was in the dataset. The dataset was then treated to mitigate these risks, including suppressing and aggregating data.
