Design features of this upgrade include provision of a high standard dual carriageway comprising four 3.5m traffic lanes with medians, shoulder / breakdown lanes and verges, as well as interchanges. A 306m length of the realigned northbound carriageway would be built as a viaduct, while the existing highway would remain as the southbound carriageway.
