Updated description of International students enrolled in NSW public schools by operational directorate (2014-2016) from
This dataset provides information on the number of international students enrolled in NSW public schools, categorised by operational directorate. In 2016, there were 5,131 international student enrolments in NSW public schools. This was an increase of 4.1 per cent compared to 2015. Four per cent of international student enrolments were in primary schools, 30 per cent in intensive English centres, 27 per cent in Years 7 to 10 and 40 per cent in Years 11 to 12. **Data notes:** * Data is sourced through the DE International database - Temporary and International Student Integrated Management system (TISIMS). * International students must hold a student visa and require an Authority to Enrol (ATE) form, issued by DE International, to enrol in a NSW public school. * Enrolment numbers are not representative of the number of students in the International Student Program, as a student may enrol in an Intensive English Centre and then proceed to a high school. * Total enrolments include full fee-paying students in the International Student Program who complete their high school education in a NSW government school, and Study Abroad program students who enrol from one term to a maximum of one year. * All international students and Study Abroad students are able to commence their study from Term 1 through to Term 4. * An operational directorate oversees a group of schools, which are organised by region and principal networks.
