We have released a new GDA2020 version of our Foundational Spatial Data Framework (FSDF) datasets which replaces the current GDA94 version. This updated service aligns our spatial data with the national standard, improving accuracy, consistency, and compatibility with modern positioning technologies.

The previous service will remain available during the transition period as GDA94 services are retired, but users are encouraged to move to the new GDA2020 service as soon as practical.

Description	NSW Hydro Point represents points of standard bodies of inland water where flow is minor and is defined as either natural water body or man-made water body. The dataset also indicates whether a hydro point is perennial, non-perennial or mainly dry. Features within the Hydro Point class include: Natural Waterbody - a naturally formed waterbody. This point Feature dataset is part of the digital Topographic database. Natural waterbody data points are positioned within the cadastral parcel in which they are located. Man-made Waterbody - Waterbody that has been intentionally constructed or formed by man. This point feature dataset is part of the digital Topographic database. Man-made waterbody data points are positioned within the cadastral parcel in which they are located. Water security is one of Australia’s major challenges. Key users of the hydrology data are NSW State and Local Government agencies as well as Federal Government agencies. These bodies use this data to better manage State and Local Government assets. This hydrology data provides the NSW component of the Australian Hydrological Geospatial Fabric which is a critical input to the Australian Water Resources Information System. More widespread use of the hydrology data is also found in emergency management response and recovery efforts, hazard mitigation or disaster risk reduction, climate change, natural resource assessment, environmental planning and monitoring, insurance, mining and agriculture. Spatial Services continuously updates this theme with information sourced from relevant stakeholders and custodians; by data verification from other internal and external databases; research and through Spatial Services’ regular cycle of updating from aerial imagery and elevation data.

Accuracy	This dataset was captured by utilising the best available source at a variety of scales and accuracies, ranging from 1:500 to 1:250 000 according to the National Mapping Council of Australia, Standards of Map Accuracy (1975). Therefore, the position of the feature instance will be within 0.5mm at map scale for 90% of the well-defined points. That is, 1:500 = 0.25m, 1:2000 = 1m, 1:4000 = 2m, 1:25000 = 12.5m, 1:50000 = 25m and 1:100000 = 50m. A program to upgrade the spatial location and accuracy of data is ongoing.
