This data can be analysed from the individual tree point to regional scale. Having current and accurate estimates of tree canopy supports councils and government to reliably identify areas of tree canopy and confidently develop urban greening and heat island mitigation strategies and actions. This dataset provides the user with information at a known spatial accuracy. The dataset is based off aerial imagery with a resolution of 0.16cm to 0.48m (dependent on spectral band) captured by ArborCarbon Pty Ltd.\r\n\r\nThis dataset can be accessed by Greater Sydney councils, NSW Government employees, and external organisations contracted to councils or NSW Government (subject to department assessment and approval).\r\n\r\n__Please fill out this [form](https://www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au/form/interest-registration-canopy-dataset) to access the dataset. Users will be required to sign a [Digital Data Deed Poll](https://shared-drupal-s3fs.s3.ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/master-test/fapub_pdf/NSW%2BPlanning%2BPortal%2BDocuments/2022+Canopy+Data+-+Data+Licence+Deed+Poll+(1).pdf) to access the data.__\r\n\r\nNSW Department of Planning staff can access the dataset via the Information Asset Register.\r\n\r\nA version of the 2022 canopy dataset, summarised to Modified Mesh Block, is publicly available on the SEED portal [here](https://datasets.seed.nsw.gov.au/dataset/urban-tree-canopy-cover-for-greater-sydney-2022).\r\n\r\nIn the dataset, \u201ctree canopy\u201d is classified as all vegetation greater than 3m. \u201cAll vegetation\u201d includes all vegetation, including tree canopy, greater than 0m.
