This regional profile covers the three year period 1996 to 1998. Both inter and intra regional comparisons are provided along with details of the crash characteristics. Within the southern region 35% of all crashes involved at least one of the factors of alcohol, fatigue of speeding. These factors have long been recognised as high risk behaviours associated with crashes and therefore are continually targeted within the behaviour strategies.
