| We are seeking ideas support for an ongoing website development. The key idea we are developing is to target a major class of apps at a strategic level, relevant in a first instance to Climate Science. Its main themes are (i) that software infrastructure for Climate Science is closely linked with knowledge infrastructure for Climate Science, and (ii) that in the absence of adequate skills, Climate Science based on scientific apps may end up in disrepute. The knowledge infrastructure needed for the class of apps we are targeting is knowledge about generic Basic Linear Algebra Software (BLAS) technologies - details and history of which can be obtained at www.netlib.org. | Dr Stephen Edwards | |

| Bus timetables rarely give an accurate indication of actual bus arrival times, leaving commuters apprehensive about whether they have missed their bus or whether they will still arrive at their destination at an adequate time if they wait for it to turn up. This application idea will inject some certainty into the process of using public transport and will ultimately increase usage. A commuter can use their smart phone or personal computer to view the map location and estimated time of arrival of their next bus or ferry, based on its real time GPS position. | Christopher McMahon | |

| Australia's marine life is very important for many reasons. The marine world is a delicate ecosystem and overfishing of even smaller species will affect the haulage of fish for human consumption. As a spearfisher in NSW it is often very difficult to know where and where not one is allowed to fish. The majority of fishermen respect Australia's marine life and want to see a sustainable system that works. There is certainly a need to provide simple and accessible information for users to protect our marine life. | Anthony Wallace | |
